Lost Places in the Ruhr Area

7 days  Workshop photo tour

Kurzbeschreibung

Workshop photo tour through Lost Places in  Ruhr area

Fotogalerie

The Ruhr area has been in constant change since the end of German hard coal mining in September 2018 and has established itself as “the metropolis for industrial culture” in Germany in recent years. The industrial structures made of steel and red brick fascinate visitors as well as the former spoil heaps, which in many places have been redesigned with extraordinary works of art in the form of landmarks. In addition to industrial culture, the Ruhr area is also known in insider circles as a Mecca for Lost Place photography.

The focus of this photo tour through the Ruhr Metropolis will be to explore abandoned places in order to document them photographically and at the same time to tell stories from days gone by. The photographer himself and the viewer of the pictures are transported into another world and at the same time embark on a journey into the past. With special permits and private access, we can capture the beauty of the Lost Places undisturbed by means of our photographs.

In addition to closed steelworks, collieries and coking plants, which allow us to immerse ourselves in the industrial history of the region, we will also explore former factories, where we will come across artefacts from people's everyday production and work from bygone days. A decommissioned mine with original machinery gives us an insight into what was once life underground and a collection of rusty old-timers in a wooded area south of the Ruhr area allows us to take unique pictures thanks to their very special morbid charm.

Let yourself be surprised by the beauty of deserted places on this photo tour and immerse yourself in the nocturnal Metropolis Ruhr!
